Wave-Filtered Maps

This page provides maps of parameters filtered by wavenumber and frequency, enabling the contribution of the various equatorial waves to be tracked.

The available products are:

• StreamFct-Wind: Streamfunction and wind vector: This product tracks well-marked eddy waves (AEW, Eq. Rossby, MRG) with a blue streamfunction anomaly in the northern hemisphere indicating cyclonism.
• Wind-Vector: Decomposition of the wind vector according to the different contributions of the equatorial waves. The scale of the intraseasonal anomaly (top left) is twice that of the waves.
• PW-StreamFct: Product in development showing anomalies in precipitable water (colour) and the streamfunction at a given level (contour).
